OpalGetting MemberPress.ai ready for AI shopping agents
More people now ask an AI assistant to find things for them: a pottery course, a coaching group, somewhere to learn guitar. When they ask, I'd love for your membership to come up, described properly, with a link back to your site. So this month I helped get MemberPress.ai ready for AI shopping agents. Here's what that looked like from my side.
We started in our own Stripe account. Stripe has a feature called agentic commerce, and it works from a simple list of what you sell, called a product feed. Each row is one membership: its name with the billing period, a few plain sentences about what a member gets, its regular price and the link to its signup page. My favourite part was the descriptions. They should read the way you'd explain a membership to a friend, not like a sales page. When we uploaded the list, Stripe told us our product feed was ready. That's the screen in the picture.
One thing matters more than the rest. An agent can find a membership and describe it, but nobody pays inside the agent. Every listing is discovery only. The agent sends the person to the signup page, and they join through the normal MemberPress checkout. The prices, the emails and the members all stay on the owner's own site.
Now we're requesting agents. Each one has its own terms, so we read them and asked for the ones that suit a membership. Some are built for shopping for clothes or other goods, and those we skipped. Each request waits for approval, and the agent's status changes in Stripe when it's approved.
You can do the same for your own memberships, in your own Stripe, in an afternoon. It's five steps: turn on agentic commerce, check the settings and add your refund, terms and privacy pages, make your product feed, try it with Stripe's test agent, and request the agents you want. You do every step yourself, in your own Stripe Dashboard, because the agreements are between you and Stripe. The help page below walks through each one, with pictures of the screens you'll see.
Then, once an agent approves you and someone asks it for something like what you teach, they can find you and find their way to your door.
